Optional Extras / Electronic Counter

The standard Filips Folding Plate Meter will measure 0 - 250 mm of compressed pasture height. We can also supply 400mm versions and special models. If these interest you, please inquire.

Filip’s Electronic Rising Plate Meter

Used for measuring the amount of pasture in your paddocks. The rising plate principle allows the meter to measure the average amount of pasture, allowing for any variations in pasture density.

The EC-09 Electronic Plate Counter simplifies the use of the Rising Plate Meter by automatically recording each reading and instantly displaying results:-

  • Instant readout of Pasture Cover and Height
  • You can enter and select different formulas. The formula will not change until you change it.
  • Retains records even when switched off
  • EC-09 is the latest model, now more reliable and simpler to use.

  • Superior features of the Filip’s meter including - A ball knob at top to help prevent rolling of the meter - Durable alloy plate.
  • Easy to keep clean so water and dirt wont add to the weight of the plate assembly - Meter folds in half for ease of storage or transport
  • All Weather Note Book so you can write down records even in the rain.
  • Carry bag included. Houses the meter and plate when not in use. It can be carried around or tied onto the farm vehicle with its quick attach straps, keeping the meter ready to use.
  • Supplied with free computer software. The software is supplied on a CD for use with Windows XP and later versions. On request we can supply software for earlier Windows versions or on floppy discs.
  • Cost effective. Using feed budgeting, increases in efficiency can pay for the Filip’s meter in just a few weeks!

Storage Tubes

These can be mounted on your farm bike or utility to safely store the handle. This ensures the meter is protected yet always available to use. The storage tube is particularly useful where the meter needs to be transported between farms.

The handy all-weather storage tube!

Carry Bag

The carry bag holds the meter and the plate. It can be carried around, giving a professional look or tied onto the farm vehicle with its quick attach straps.

All Weather Note Books.

One of these is supplied with the meter but more can be ordered. These are pre-printed for recording your farm walk readings. Biro pen or pencil (which can be rubbed out with an eraser) can be used. Pages are perforated so they can be removed and used or filed in the office. The reverse of each page is unprinted for general notes - a great asset to carry in your pocket for any purpose!

Pasture Management Software

While the Pasture Management Software is designed especially to complement the use of Filips Folding Plate Pasture Meter, it can be used with other plate meters. (The Pasture Cover software supplied with electronic counters is similar but there are differences).

The Pasture Management Software is a simple program which processes the readings from the meter, giving useable reports. Although not essential for using the meter, the software does all the calculator work, stores information against a calendar and organises the results ready to use (Requires Windows or Windows '95). The mouse-driven program is simple to install and operate.

To load the program:

  • Enter your name and names of your organisation
  • Enter names or numbers of the paddock and the size of the paddock
  • Enter the equation which you would like to use on your farm to calculate Kg/DM

Different equations stay on the programme corresponding with the marked calendar date. All gathered information will stay on the program associated with the marked calendar date.

Loading information is simple. Punch in the start reading and the finished reading and amount of samples taken in each paddock. The programme will automatically calculate the Kg/DM in the appropriate paddock. Four different reports are available (with a push of a button), and will be permanently stored in the program corresponding with the calendar date.

The program is designed to be user-friendly, but without bells or whistles, which often can confuse you when entering information.
