The HT- Harvesters

The HT- Harvester has been developed for cutting and pruning herbs or small plants, also for trimming hedges or shrubs. It is a very versatile machine and can perform a wide range of functions.
The HT - Harvester consists of an Oleomac (John Deere in USA) motorised hedge trimmer (power head) mounted through a multi position bracket to a support frame. The frame is mounted on wheels and has a fully adjustable control handle. The operator pushes the machine along, can remotely throttle the power head and can easily regulate cutting position to suit requirements.
The HT - Harvester is zinc plated for durability and no spanners are required to assemble or adjust it. Push button releases allow the wheels to be removed and the control handle folds within the frame for transport or storage - neat and compact. One pin allows the power head to be removed from its mounting frame, handle to be refitted and it can be used as a standard hedge trimmer for trimming awkward areas.
The HT - Harvester has an optional hedge trimming attachment allowing it to trim vertically up to 3 meters (10ft) and top hedges 2.5 meters (8ft) high.

Herb Harvesting

The Power head is mounted horizontally in the frame. It can cut down to ground level and up to 580mm (23") high. Blade length is 750mm (30") allowing it to cut bulky crops such as Lavender.

The sides of shrubs or low hedges can be cut or pruned by repositioning the power head. It can be mounted vertically or at an angle. This is often an advantage, providing a better shape for plant growth and is also more pleasing to the eye. The power head is fitted with a foot on the end of the cutter bar. This acts as a skid allowing the operator to cut right down to ground level. It picks up lower branches guiding them over the cutter bar. It can be used over weed matting and with the control handle the operator has fine control over cutting height.

Boarder Trimming
The HT - Harvester can trim the sides of shrubs, bushes or hedges from ground level up to 1.55m (5ft) high in 2 stages. Nice straight edges or curved boarders are easily trimmed.

Hedge Trimming
An optional kit allows side trimming to 3m (10ft) and topping to 2.5m (8ft). The kit consists of an aluminium mast and fittings to mount the power head, an extension control handle and a ballast holder and bottles. The mast attaches firmly to the main frame. Camlock adjustment allows quick positioning of the power head. Water ballast can be added to ensure a very stable work platform even when working at 3m high. Although not essential, the extension control handle may be used when cutting at such heights to give finer control over the cutting.

HT-Cala Harvester ©Jenquip 2002

The HT-Cala harvester can be used to harvest a variety of crops. It’s motorized hedge trimmer cuts the crop near ground level, at either a floating or preset height. As it’s name suggests, the HT-Cala was originally built for pruning Cala & Cana Lillies off near ground level after their flowering season.

Click here to see a video of the HT-Cala Harvester in action

Typical Uses:-

General Trimming. Pruning low crops or shrubs to height

Herb Harvesting. The HT-Cala will straddle the row, cutting the crop to a uniform height.

Clean Up. Cutting rank grass or surplus vegetation.

Features of the HT-Cala are:-

  • Adjustable wheel track; from 1250 mm up to 1500mm (typical tractor wheel track). The HT-Cala will straddle the crop and the operator can also walk in a wheel track. Hence no plant damage occurs allowing a second crop to grow.
  • Adjustable wheel height; allows for raised beds. Cutter bar height above wheel ground level 20 to 580 mm.
  • Operator controls / handlebars fully adjustable. The operator can walk directly behind the harvester or walk offset in a wheel track. The adjustment allows the controls to be set to best advantage for the operator. Throttle and engine stop are activated from the operators position.
  • Frame is fully zinc plated for low maintenance. Wheels have quick release pins allowing compact storage or easy transporting in a vehicle.
  • Standard cutting width is approximately 1200 mm

HT-Kuma Harvester ©Jenquip 2002

The HT-Kuma harvester can be used to harvest a variety of crops. It’s motorized hedge trimmer cuts the crop at either a floating or preset height and a ground driven conveyor transports it upwards and into a bin.

Typical Uses include:-

General Trimming: Pruning crops or shrubs to height

Herb Harvesting: The HT-Kuma will straddle the row, cutting the crop to a uniform height and place the trimmings into a bin.

Taking Cuttings: Cut and collect cuttings from beds ready for pricking out

Clean Up:. Cutting rank grass or collecting up surplus vegetation

Click here to see a video of the HT-Kuma at work

Features of the HT-Kuma are:-
  • Adjustable fingers. These pick up the crop from the sides of the row and feed it over the cutter bar. This ensures all the crop is cut and minimizes any dirt pick up. The finger height can be adjusted giving a fixed minimum cutter bar height. 20 to 120 mm in 5 steps. If a higher cutting height is required momentarily or to stop cutting plants, simply predd down on the handle bars to lift the cutter bar.
  • Adjustable wheel track; from 1250 mm up to 1500mm (typical tractor wheel track). The HT-Kuma will straddle the crop and the operator can also walk in a wheel track.
  • Conveyor belt is a heavy duty horticultural type which can easily be cleaned. It is ground driven in the forward direction but freewheels when reversing. When shifting the harvester over long distances, pull it along so the conveyor freewheels.
  • Frame is fully zinc plated for low maintenance. Wheels have quick release pins allowing compact storage or easy transporting in a vehicle.
  • Standard cutting width is approximately 750 mm but an optional cutter width of 1200 mm is available. Two bins are used on this model.

HT-Cress Harvester ©Jenquip 2009

HT-CressThe HT-Cress Harvester has been specifically developed for the harvesting of Water Cress. IT can even be used while overhead sprinklers are activated.

In use the operator typically straddles the row and nudges the harvester forward with his body leaving hands free. As the Watercress is cut it moves up the conveyor where the operator gathers the crop into bundles and packs them into a collection bin.

There is a top fence across the conveyor to bunch the crop if the operator can’t keep up. Although the HT-Cress is supplied with crop pick up fingers, operators may prefer to go up each row “heaping” up the sides with a broom before harvesting.
